I have played Whiskey Creek many times since it opened in the mid-90's but never has it be in such awful shape. To begin with: Practice range: you are still required to use the mats on the practice range though they do give you unlimited range balls with the green fees. Practice chipping /sand shot green is a mess, it looks like the course has completely abandoned this green altogether. Practice putting green: in terrible shape, dead grass patches and pot holes filled with sand. I was hoping that only the practice green was this bad; WRONG. Tee boxes: almost all tee boxes were covered with unrepaired divot holes; lots of them. It was difficult to find a patch of grass on many of them. While I was there, one tee box (hole #8) was being completely covered with new sod. Fairways and bunkers: these were in pretty good shape all around the course except for some occassional large brown patches. Bunkers were, for the most part, filled with a good layer of sand. Environmental areas: again, these areas seem to have been forgotten; largely overgrown with tall and ugly weeds and wild grasses, some so high it was difficult to see the course from the cart. Greens: easily the most obvious problem at this course. Most of the greens had little to no grass on them; along with dead collars and large sand patches on and around most greens. One of the guys I was playing with commented that it looked like as if the greens were sprayed with green paint so that the dirt wouldn't show through. After a close inspection of several greens, it looks like the course did in fact paint the greens green. One course marshall said that the greens keeper had put on a new weed killer and instead it killed all of the grass. Has the head greens keeper been fired over this...he should have been. Overall, this course has gone from one of the "must-play" day fee course in Frederick County to a course that is below even many of the muni course around the area and they still have the gall to charge $82-$99!!! My recommendation is to completely avoid this course for a few years and spend your money playing 2 rounds at one of the many other great courses in the area.

The greens were apparently painted, presumably because they were so dead. The paint did not hide the huge dirt patches. In addition there were tire tracks from the maintenance equipment on the greens as well. A maintenance worker sat in his mower talking on his cell phone next to the tee as we teed off on 4. I just can't understand why people rave about this overpriced course, many munis in the area offer a much better experience.

What happened to this place??? I was just there a few months ago and it was in ok shape but I figured because it was early on in the year. I felt like I went home from the bar after 10 drinks with a hottie and woke up next to a chick with face that looked like an old catcher's mit. This course has gone from a 9+ to a 0. I don't normally do donuts on greens at golf course but I did try it out for the first time on #11 there and it was pretty fun.

If you haven't played Whiskey before it is definitely worth your while. Whiskey Creek is a fun and challenging course that has a great combination of differently designed holes. The course was in pretty good shape, a couple of the greens had some brown patches, and some of the fairways were a little worn. All in all a great play!

You get what you pay for at this course. From the cart service to load your clubs when you first pull into the parking lot, to getting your clubs cleaned as you are walking to the clubhouse from the 18th green, everything at Whiskey Creek is performed at the highest of quality. Well, everything expect my golf game, but I can't blame the course for that. Fairways and Greens are in exceptional condition and the aesthetics are phenomenal. My only gripe would be that some of the tee boxes were not in great shape, but that will be addressed as soon as they set up for the next week. All-in-all, I'm confident in saying that this is one of the best courses in MD, and I can't wait to play it again soon.

The course was in near perfect condition, the greens were consistent and the overall appearance was very lush. The aesthetics at Whiskey make the course, whether its the house in the middle of the fairway on 18 or the greens propped on top of huge rock formations it is just an all around beautiful and well maintained course. The sausage and peppers at the turn hit the spot as well.

Whiskey Creek is one of my favorite courses, but not right now. The greens are in very bad shape right now and they are charging $85 I think it even goes to full price this week. From what I saw give this place till the end of the month or even mid May it should be back to playing shape by then. The staff is great and very friendly but the restaurant crew is slow, it took 25 minutes to get a burger that should have taken 10 minutes tops since there was no one else waiting for food.

Great condition, considering it was Jan 5th. The ground was pretty frozen (as were the ponds) but there was still grass pretty much everywhere. And for $67 for the offseason, well worth it to play this great course.

I just played this course for the 2nd time this year. If I did not live 90 minutes away I would quit my CC and play there 3 times a week. Besides the course being in great shape the people there running it are so friendly. Not stuck up A-holes I run into at most places. Early X-Mas gift go there before the season ends.

Whiskey Creek is a challenging course, it has lots of elevation changes and a few blind shots. The fairways and greens were in very good condition, considering the recent hot weather. The staff are very friendly and helpful. However, the on-course marshalls didn't seem to prompt the slow moving groups enough, since they created a 5+ hour round for everyone behind them.

The course was in great condition. The fairways were well manicured and in awesome shape. The greens were very very fast. They had been rolled the night before and all putts rolled true. The staff claimed that the greens were a 12 on the stimpmeter, but that usually they were a 7 or 8. Overall, I had a geat time on this early Thursday morning with temperatures in the low 80s.

As a first timer at the course, I was thoroughly impressed. First, the clubhouse was beautiful, very relaxing with a cozy feel, it also had great food and a nice pro shop. The staff and customer service was friendly and way above par. Now to the course, WOW, what a course, beautiful scenery all around and the 18th hole has an old stone wall in the middle of the fairway, which is pretty cool. Whiskey Creek is a must play for all!

I don't get the buzz over this course. It's a nice layout, but for the price I don't expect to find brown spots on the greens. To me this course is overpriced and overrated.

What a magnificent course. Truly one of the top public courses in MD. Every hole has its own unique twist. Not the longest course I've ever played, but plenty of holes make you muscle-up in order to give yourself a birdie opp. The staff is extremely helpful and they do an amazing job at keeping the course in great condition.
