I was somewhat disappointed with the conditions at Compass Pointe yesterday. I played this course a little over a month ago, and it was in much better shape then. The greens had tons of ball marks that were not fixed. Based on the conditions from last month, I will give this course another chance though.

I played the course with a friends company. It was a scramble tournament and we had a blast. The course was in great shape and has above average difficulty. It was 100 degrees but the beverage cart made it around to us 4 times during our 18 holes and the experience was great overall.

Only got to play 9 before the storms came thru. Course was in very good condition. Staff in the pro shop were extremely accommodating in crediting us back for the 9 holes that we didn't play. Breakfast sandwiches were a plus.

Course was in excellent shape. The greens were very true. Only got to play 9 because of the rain. Can't wait to go back and play a full round there

Very nice golf course in Pasadena which houses two full 18 hole courses. The conditions on the course were above average, the fairways and greens were in great shape, however it looks like they are working hard to get the rough back in good shape. The rough was patchy is some areas and uneven, good thing I spent most of my time in the fairways. Regardless this course is a great play and has some very scenic and beautiful holes.

Very difficult course in fairly good condition. Greens and fairways are in excellent condition. Rough has numerous bare spots. Tees are in good conditions. Sand in traps was a little heavy but ground crew was working on them today. Course had heavy play today. Had several outings scheduled. Staff was friendly and courteous.

Compass looks like its ready to go for the golf season, the grass is alive and well :). Tee boxes, greens and fairways all in pretty decent shape for this early in the season. I can't wait to play this course this summer.

Overall, I would say the course is in good shape, it should be it is only mid May. In a couple of weeks when the weather starts getting ugly, who knows. Grass in the rough is non-existent, can't imagine what it is going to be like in July/August. Each and every fairway is framed by mounds of bare rough, which acts a spring board to send your ball in the hazard if you hit them. You are either in the fairway or taking a penalty, period. I know, I know, hit the ball in the fairway and I wouldn't have a problem, but for $55 on a Tuesday afternoon I want some grass under my ball when I am lucky enough to have it stop in the rough or when I am chipping around the green.

I played the North-East course with that Ronicles guy and agree with just about everything he said. The tee-boxes, fairways and greens are in excellent shape - there are a couple of greens that will probably burn up in another month or so (maybe 2). This course is still fairly new and the county rushed the opening and didn't allow the rough to grow in properly, although it is still a problem it is getting better. However, dropping $70 on the weekend (not including range balls, they have a grass range but I have never seen it opened???), you would expect to have grass under your ball. The tee boxes are nicely trimmed and well kept. The greens look really good, except those two I mentioned earlier, and are very hard and moderately fast. I would not recommend this course for hackers/beginners. The North is a links style course that plays fast and usually a lot of wind. It is not forgiving at all, and there are many forced carries. In the area this course is definitely a step above Eisenhower, Timbers of Troy, Enterprise to name a few but you definitely pay a premium. I think in about 2 years this course will be well worth the money. See you next time!

I don't know if it was the week of rain or just terrific course management, but the course was in beautiful condition. We played the north and east courses and they were both nice. I had never played here before, but the other guys I played with were veteran Compass visitors and thought the course in tip top shape. Play was slow (5 hours and 15 minutes) but I think it was just the guys in front of us.

This course is owned by Anne Arundel County and has just been reconstructed, the views are beautiful and it has a lot of potential. The conditions were ok, but they could be better.
