| Located about 15 minutes from the Virginia Tech campus, this outstanding course is set right along the New River. Scenic river views from pretty much every hole on this challenging 7500 yard course. The combination of the distance and tight landing areas make this course very difficult. Many of these greens are on top of a shaved hill, so balls that nearly miss can roll all the way like a US Open course. Pete Dye didn't design this course for the weekend hacker, but for the under 15 handicaps out there, this course is a must play. Some construction going on, looks like they may be building a new clubhouse that will overlook hole 18 and the river. |

| Great setting along the river. This is a prime location but every goofy gimmick in Pete Dye's repertoire is on display here: pot bunkers, mounds, hidden landing areas, "collection" areas--miss a green by 3 feet and your ball ends up 50 feet away. Could have been a special place but Dye overcooked it. Hope they fix it someday to make it playable. |
